Giclee Process
Project Evaluation –
Here we will discuss with
you what you would like to achieve. Issues to resolve are related
to color matching your original, media options, size, and quantity.
We will analyze your original and/or transparency for any special
concerns.
Image Capture –
This is one of the
most important steps in the process. Your final output will only
be as good as the image captured from your original art. To capture
the best possible digital image of your original we work from
either a (4x5 or 8x10) transparency, or
utilize the ability to direct scan your original artwork utilizing
a Cruse Scan.
Transparencies are scanned in high resolution
on a drum scanner. The drum scanners achieve beautiful results
and our technician has over 10 years experience in drum scanning
and color correction. We currently work with Howtek and Lino/Hell
scanners.

Cruse Scans however provide the best solution
in image capture. By having the capability of scanning your original
at full size, up to 4 ft x 8 ft and at very high resolutions we
can pick up many details that are sometimes lost in transparencies,
not to mention stunning color.

Scanner information
Please note, any
originals framed under glass will need to be removed for both
photography and Cruse Scanning.
Proofing –
After we digitize your original we will
start to color correct and produce color proofs for your project.
Through this process we will produce a number of color proofs
working towards what we feel is the closest possible representation
of your original. Once proper color is achieved we will schedule
for you to come by to view your proof. We will work with you and
discuss any concerns or corrections that need to be made. The
cost of time and materials in this process is included in our
setup fee. We will continue the proofing process until you are
100% satisfied with the color. Once a final proof is chosen we
will have you sign off on the proof and we will then store that
proof on site for quality control purposes on any future orders.
Printing –
Once proofing is complete we will print
your order. Each print will be carefully inspected and then compared
to the proof to make sure it meets our high standards in color
matching. The prints will then be trimmed and prepared for final
delivery to you.
Please note - There
is a drying time of 24 hours needed for giclee prints to cure.
Our canvas giclée prints are then sealed with a protective
topcoat which also requires a 24 hour period to dry.
Certificates -
After your prints are complete, and if
you have requested, we can issue Certificates of Authenticity.
These can be customized to your preference or we have a standard
certificate available.
We are also currently researching Fine
Art Registry and hope to get this service available to our customers
soon.
Archiving –
Once your job is complete and you have
received your prints we will begin to archive your images. We
archive all customers work to dvd for future orders and as a backup
for you. We create two copies of all archives, one of which is
on site for future orders and another which is stored securely
off site as a safety precaution against loss. Finally, all information
will be recorded to our database, and if requested, we will add
you to our Signature
Gallery.
No matter if you are
using our service or someone else's, you should always request
a high res copy of your image for you to have as a backup as well.
